Public engagement and Scicomm are two things becoming more and more important in the life of a scientist. And so universities try to teach PhD students how to deal with that… with more or less success and more or less efficiency but this is not the question here.
As a first year PhD student, one of the mandatory assessments I have to do is producing a public engagement poster and present it for a day. This poster has to be related to my research and so I decided to make a poster about debris-covered glaciers (what a surprise, no?) and why glaciologists study them and why it matters. And I choose as audience the children so that’s the reason why my glacier has a blanket 😀
Here I’ve presented it as a Prezi to make it more dynamic. I may make the PDF downloadable later… for example after the presentation of the 12th June 2014!
If you want a full size Prezi, click here.
So if you are around Aberystwyth the 12th of June, don’t hesitate, come have a look in Old College (you know the old building that looks like Hogwarts on the Prom) and ask me questions!
